About the apartment and area...

the location:the apt. is in the increasingly popular resort area
of Milas in Mugla province between the villages of Guvercinlik
and Bogagizi,bordering the Bodrum peninsula.
the new international Bodrum-Milas airport is 20 minutes
from the apartment on a modern highway.
Bodrum town is 30 minutes drive from the apartment.

The apartment is ideally situated at the top of the hill with views to the sea and in summer when the temperature gets
to betweem 30-40 degrees it gets that comfortable breeze
and you feel that it's not that hot.
we find that you only need to turn on the AC on in the evenings to cool off the room.
the thick wall construction is good for keeping the heat out.

The resort has full amenities with pools, restaurants, beach club, tennis, spas, entertainment, convenience stores, ect...
there are neighboring resorts that you can visit as well including one that has a spectacular infiniti pool and restaurant/bar overlooking the Agean sea .
needless to say the sunsets are spectacular.
flamingo is currently installing water slides at the
clubhouse pool for the new season.

For exploring, there are trails and ancient ruins nearby, beautiful villages with markets and Bazaars, incredible
value seafood restaurants on the shoreline.

If you are a vegetarian, you'll love the fruit and veg markets
(no limp tesco stuff here!)incredibly fresh and colourful.
the fish is so good and cheap!

For eating out there is the flamingo restaurant and the neighboring resort's restaurants as well.

Then there are a few private restaurants outside the resorts
on the main road with new ones opening every season.

Guests usually alternate by eating in the resort and then go into Bodrum town for dinner and nightlife.

My only complaint is the wine, so you pretty much have to get import but the beer is really good and of course Raki which is
a bit of an acquired taste but is actually quite refreshing.

Driving a rental car is safe(safer than most european countries)
they are good drivers here and follow the rules of the road.
to get around without a rental car you use the Dolmus or
shuttle system which is really well established for basically
getting anywhere in the whole country.the city to city buslines
are the most advanced and modern that i have ever seen.
they even have attendants (in uniform) just like airlines.
there are also regular taxis.

finally the people here are very friendy and helpful.
of course they are natural salesmen and a few will try and sell
you a carpet or a fake rolex or whatever, but it's all part of
the charm and they don't take offense when you politely decline.you must bargain though...they expect you to!
